A Curse to Trump Them All

I wrote this at least 14 years ago for a musical I was writing (and which remains WIP to this day). I wrote it as a song, but I think the words stand up on their own and I haven’t changed a single word from the original.

I was reminded of its relevance when Trump was elected first time around, but when he was voted out in 2020 I thought the opportunity had passed.

Yet he we are in 2025 with him back at the helm, boldly swinging his wrecking ball in every direction with apparent impunity. His ambitions magnified by previous experience and by some far right Trump whisperers, it would seem he has spent four years scheming and building a loyal infantry, with the goal of unleashing a shock and awe assault on anyone he feels like (or on anyone whose name is whispered into his ear).

The words that I wrote so many years ago without any intended reference to DJT, now seem more prophetic than ever.

A CURSE TO TRUMP THEM ALL
It’s all gone wrong
It’s all a mess
I must confess
this world is failing me again

The time has come
to set things right
As well I might make an example of this generation

And I must send a message
that’s unequivocal
A deific detention
A curse, a curse to trump them all
